The “Festival of the Winds” set the communities´ imagination soaring
11 September
Working with recyclable materials, the rural communities of Neira and Aranzazu created their own kites and delivered messages focused on sustainability and care for the environment.
The GreenLand Foundation continues activities that benefit the communities that neighbor Wakate; throughout mid-August and early September, the foundation held three separate days of the Wind Festival, an initiative that seeks to help families let their imaginations soar by making creative kite designs with recyclable materials, which are exhibited during the events.
Some 85 people, both children and adults, attended the Festival of the Winds, which took place in the villages of Cardal and Pan de Azúcar in the municipality of Neira. As for the festival held in Camelias de Aranzazu, over 140 attendants participated, among them students, parents and teachers from local educational institutions.
Once again, local communities show their interest in participating in the various events that the Greenland Foundation continues to organize. Their participation shows that family unity, entertainment and healthy recreation allow the beneficiaries to share newly generated spaces with the entirety of local communities
“Caring for the environment” “Protecting natural resources” “Promote well-being and progress in our territory”. These were some of the sentiments that participants wrote on their kites, highlighting the work that we do through the GreenLand Foundation.
